Unclaimed Benefits
What is an unclaimed benefit?
An unclaimed benefit refer to any monies due to a person that remains unpaid or unclaimed and the payment cannot be made to the person as such person is not known or contactable. It is a claim it is known to Zestlife, which has been lodged, assessed, proven valid and approved.
Is it important to keep your beneficiary details up-to-date?
Yes it is very important. When a claim needs to be paid, the first thing we will do is contact you, your beneficiaries or your dependents. To make sure that we are able to do this, you need to inform us of any changes to your own and to your beneficiaries or dependents’ contact details as this will reduce the risk of policy benefit been unclaimed.
You can contact Zestlife on:
Telephone: 021 180 4220
Sharecall: 0860 009 378
Email: info@zestlife.co.za
Fax: 021 180 4375
What happens if we are unable to reach you, your beneficiaries or your dependents?
We will follow the following in our attempt to process and pay a claim:
- If we are not successful in our attempts to contact you or your beneficiaries as per the details on record which you have provided us, we will try to obtain most recent contact details from external information providers such as the Department of Home Affairs or a credit bureau.
- If we are still unable to reach you or your beneficiaries, we may appoint an external tracing company to trace you and/or your beneficiaries. Should this be needed, tracing fees may apply and may be deducted from the benefit payout.
- If the benefit is still unclaimed after 2 years of the claim conditions being met, and we are still unable to reach you or your beneficiaries, we will transfer the unclaimed benefit into the Guardrisk Unclaimed Benefit Fund. Any unclaimed benefit will be managed and invested as the Guardrisk deems appropriate. Should a beneficiary subsequently come forward or be located, the Insurer will utilise these funds to pay the benefit due.
